“I paint because I have always wanted to push what I see in my mind’s eye through my hand onto a waiting surface. For me, painting is an act of joining the interior world to the one I see outside of myself, creating an emotional parallel to the natural world around me. My works are inspired by the landscape on Vancouver Island, and from travels throughout the coast of British Columbia, into the Great Bear Rainforest, to the National Grasslands of the prairies and to the Maritimes and the Atlantic province of Newfoundland and Labrador."
Susan is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and lives on Vancouver Island in Cowichan Bay. She has been painting for the past 18 years and studied oil painting under the tutelage of a painter in the tradition of the old masters. In recent years, she studied acrylics in the style of the abstract expressionists. She paints representative, abstract expression and contemporary modern styles in oils, acrylics and oil and cold wax.
